The context

Paul is answering a question about the resurrection body. He has argued from seed and harvest, from the first Adam and the last, and from the difference between a natural body and a spiritual one. Verse 50 states the premise for what follows: a transformation is necessary, and the dead will be raised imperishable.

What it establishes

It establishes that the present mortal constitution cannot inherit the kingdom as it stands, and therefore that resurrection requires change rather than mere resuscitation. The verse is a hinge: it explains why the trumpet and the transformation of verses 51-53 are needed.

What it does not establish

It does not establish that the material world is evil. Paul's contrast is between perishable and imperishable, not between matter and spirit; he has just insisted the resurrection body is a body. Nor does it say the present creation is discarded rather than renewed.
