Colossians 1:27
The context
Paul is describing his commission as a steward of a mystery previously hidden and now disclosed. The paragraph runs from verse 24 to verse 29 and speaks of his labor and suffering for the church. Verse 27 names the content of the mystery and its location among the readers.
What it establishes
It establishes that the letter treats the presence of Christ among a Gentile congregation as the disclosed secret, and that the hope named is grounded in that presence rather than in an expectation about the future alone.
What it does not establish
It does not say what "in you" means grammatically. The phrase can be read individually or collectively, and the letter's argument is about a congregation as much as about persons. Whether the genitive is possessive or locative is disputed, and the verse does not decide it.
