Colossians 2:10
The context
The argument against the rival teaching has reached its central claim. Paul has said that the whole fullness of deity dwells in Christ bodily, and verse 10 draws the consequence for the readers. The letter is at pains to say that what they lack is supplied, not supplemented.
What it establishes
It establishes that completeness is stated as a present possession rather than a future goal, and that it is located in the one described as head over every ruler and authority. The verse is a direct answer to teaching that demanded additional practices.
What it does not establish
It does not describe what that fullness consists of. The sentence asserts the state and not its contents. What being filled means in practice is worked out elsewhere in the letter in ethical terms, and this verse by itself supports no particular experience or procedure.
Short note, first pass, October 2026. Corrections welcome.
