Joshua 15:13-14
The context
This falls in the allotment of territory to Judah, where Caleb receives Hebron as his inheritance in recognition of his earlier report. The verses name three descendants of Anak and say they were driven out. The same material appears in Judges with a slightly different cast of characters.
What it establishes
The passage credits a particular man and family with taking a particular town. It shows how the book distributes the conquest among the tribes rather than treating it as one act.
What it does not establish
It does not give a reliable order of events. The parallel in Judges differs in detail, and the numbers and names belong to the tradition the book preserves rather than to a verified campaign record.
Short note, first pass, October 2026. Corrections welcome.
