Luke 24:44

The context

The risen Jesus appears to the gathered disciples in Jerusalem, eats broiled fish to prove he is not a ghost, and then speaks. He reminds them of words spoken while he was still with them and opens their minds to understand the scriptures. The verse names a three-part division of the Jewish scriptures.

What it establishes

It establishes that Jesus read Israel's scriptures as pointing to his own suffering, death, and resurrection, and that he treated that reading as something requiring opened understanding rather than obvious inference.

What it does not establish

It does not give a canon list. The threefold formula describes the shape of the scriptures Jesus' hearers used; it does not enumerate books or settle disputed ones. Nor does it supply a rule for reading every passage as prediction; the claim is about a pattern of suffering and rising.
