Matthew 8:11
The context
Matthew 8 pairs a centurion's request with a saying about the kingdom's banquet. The centurion asks for a healing at a distance, and Jesus marvels at his faith. Verse 11 then widens the frame to a table fellowship with the patriarchs, and verse 12 adds the exclusion of those who expected to be there.
What it establishes
It establishes that Jesus predicted the inclusion of outsiders in the patriarchal banquet, and that he set that inclusion beside the exclusion of some insiders. The image is a meal, not a territory.
What it does not establish
It does not define the banquet or its timing. The saying is embedded in a healing narrative, and the phrase many is not all. It asserts a reversal of expectations without describing the mechanism by which anyone is included.
