Revelation 22:13

The context

The vision has ended and the book closes with a series of promises and invitations: the coming soon, the blessing on those who wash their robes, the invitation to the thirsty. The speakers shift rapidly in these final verses, and this declaration sits among them.

What it establishes

It establishes a claim to encompass the whole span of beginning and end under three paired titles, in language that echoes the book's opening description of God. The echo of the opening frame is deliberate.

What it does not establish

It does not identify the speaker with certainty. The dialogue in these verses moves between voices, and whether this line is spoken by God or by Christ is disputed among interpreters. Nor does the formula describe a sequence of events; it is a claim about scope.

Short note, first pass, October 2026. Corrections welcome.
