Revelation 4:11

The context

Revelation 4 opens the visionary section after the letters to the churches: a door in heaven, a throne, twenty-four elders, four living creatures, and a sea of glass. The chapter contains no crisis and no judgment yet; it is a scene of continuous praise. Verse 11 is the acclamation of the elders, and chapter 5 answers it with a new song.

What it establishes

The verse establishes why the throne is praised before anything is redeemed: God is worthy because he created, and because by his will things exist. The claim links worth to making, and it places creation in the position of what was made rather than what was needed.

What it does not establish

It is not a philosophical argument for creation. The verse is a liturgical acclamation inside a vision, and it does not discuss mechanism, age, or the relation of creation to time. It says that everything owes its being to God's will, and it leaves the how unaddressed.
